An Open, Salty & Sweet Message To Greyson

Okay, we get it. Obviously the gig in London was a private affair. And not knowing all of the circumstances surrounding it, I’ll refrain from making any comment about your choice to accept it. But what PISSES ME OFF is that, what little was revealed to us about it, came from @RedBarnSurrey; A complete fucking stranger. If THEY were able to say something about it, surely you could have as well. Instead, all we got from you the whole trip is yet more reminders that you’re fond of your liquor!!! πŸΈπŸΊπŸ·πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ (Although, I will admit we did have a little fun with you in NYC)
Don’t you get that your fansΒ  are THIRSTY for what you’re keeping inside??? (See what i did there? πŸ˜‰) A little news about what’s going on with you, with your music, would go a long way to breathe life into the fan club!!! Or isnt that important to you anymore ??? If you can find the time to travel all the way to the UK for one fan’s birthday party, surely you can find a moment each day to MAKE the day of one of your thousands of other loyal fans by replying to their tweet or DM, or to say “hi” or to say something funny or to say something profound or to say something completely pointless!!! Instead, you give us “the cold shoulder”… you keep us in the dark.
“Thought we were more than an AFTERTHOUGHT” (See what I did THERE? πŸ˜‰)

The truth is, you have every right to your privacy. Your only REAL obligation to your fans is to share your music with us. However, I know I speak for many of us in saying that we’re more than just fans of the music. We’re fans of YOU. Fans of your story. Fans of your fucking eyebrows!!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

You’re at a point in your life where you’re opening new doors of knowledge, opportunity and experience. As you put it, “There is no shame in stopping for a minute, examine who you are and start to think about who you want to be in the future”. Yet, at the same time, you’re still, apparently, albeit a little less vigorously, still pursuing your music. And as long as you are, don’t you think it’s important and worth the effort to maintain just a little more engagement with your fans? Or do we expect too much?

No, Greyson, you have nothing to be ashamed of and so much to be proud of.
Wherever your life’s journey leads you, know that you will forever be a part of music history, you will forever be a part of our lives and you will forever have our support, our blessing and our love.

Sincerely and on behalf of (many of) your fans,

GREYSON CHANCE Live in New York City (One year later)

It’s been a year since my “Excellent Adventure” to see Greyson Chance perform at Webster Hall in New York City.img_20170201_073821

I originally planned to go to the Chicago show with Joe…
My bf, you ask???…
No, my 23 year old son (also a musician). If this stuns you, you need to read my post entitled “Geeks Exposed”. ( )

Due to a health issue in my family, I had to cancel my trip to Chicago and was resigned to missing the opportunity to see Greyson’s concert. Circumstances improved and, at the last minute decided to go to the NYC show. Unfortunately, Joe was unable to take off of work to join me.

Unusually mild weather made the eight hour drive from Cleveland a pleasant one. I planned on staying with relatives on Long Island but decided, instead, to book a hotel as I was running late.

So I drove straight into Manhattan and found a parking garage a couple blocks away from the venue. I gathered up my shit, including the Camel Blues ( ), and my video camera and gave my car keys to the parking attendant. I made a “pit stop” in the parking garage’s very unpetentious restroom and then started the walk to Webster Hall on 11th St. Imagine that…11th St.

Shortly after arriving at the venue, I realized I didn’t have my concert ticket. I checked all my pockets at least five fucking times to no avail. I wasn’t sure if I left it in the car or at home. Fortunately, thanks to the miracles of modern technology, I was able to print a new ticket from my email account off my phone at the KODAK Photo Kiosk in the CVS pharmacy just around the corner.

As I walked around the corner back to the venue, Greyson was outside talking to some fans. Not yet prepared to reveal my identity, I decided not to butt in. I regret that now. I hung out across the street till the about 10 minutes after Greyson’s opening act (9 Graves…or was it 8?) started their set. There was still a short line filing in. I turned in my ticket and got frisked by the security bad asses. I planted myself at the back of the room between the sound / lighting cage and, what I didn’t realize at the time, was Greyson’sΒ  merch table. I was relieved to see several other adults throughout the room. I didn’t want to be the biggest, ugliest fangirl there. πŸ˜€

9 (or 8) Graves finished their set (not bad, btw) and assured the audience that Greyson would be on stage shortly. The curtains closed while Greyson’s band set up…
And then…
Greyson Chance Live in NYC Webster Hall 2-1-2016:

Greyson’s performance exceeded all my expectations. It was well worth all the hassle and expense of getting there. I headed back home the following day with renewed hopes in Greyson’s future in music. ‘Hit & Run’ was released the following Friday. ‘Back on the Wall’ in the spring. ‘No Fear’ and ‘More Than Me’, the last two tracks of S.O.M.H. were released with the EP in June.

A year later Greyson is now, unshamefully, examining who he is and thinking about who he want to be in the future…(Whatever the fuck that means)
As usual he lobs shit like that out there and then…keep us in the dark !!!

Finally, just a couple days ago, he goes on a Greyson Tweet Spree (That’s two tweets in a rowπŸ˜‚) and hints that he and Fabian Mazur have been “working” on something. I presume it’s some new music. But with Greyson, one never knows. A month from now we might learn that they’ve started their own construction company.πŸ˜•

But seriously, “I’ll be here” as long as Greyson continues fighting. Greyson is, and will always be, a part of music history.

“The future is your’s if you choose”

LONDON – ANYTHING (acoustic)

Got my first listen to ANYTHING acoustic early this morning. Another beautiful acoustic presentation. This and ‘LONDON’ demonstrate the remarkable evolution of your NEW voice and of your artistry in just this past year and a half since the recording of ‘AFTERLIFE’. Two releases from you, in the span of less than a month, is exciting.

You were absolutely right to record ‘LONDON’ the way you did; in a single take with you playing the instrument. To me, that method produces a deeper emotional impact, even from the listener’s point of “view”. I can FEEL the connection between you and the piano in ‘LONDON’ more-so than in ‘ANYTHING’. I can only imagine that it must be an entirely different experience for you as well. I’ve watched you at the keys. Not to sound too “zen”, but you become one with the instrument when you’re playing, to a degree I don’t see in “greats” like Billy Joel and Elton John and others. Watching you play is as much a part of the experience as listening to the music. I look forward to hearing and seeing more from you like this. 😊

What’s your strategy for “round three”?

Camel Blues

Now that Greyson’s dirty little secret is out in the open, I thought I’d share my story about the Camel Blues. It was around a year ago that I attended Greyson’s show in New York City, Webster Hall, where Greyson signed this pack of Camel Blues for me, with just a hint of a chuckle as he did so. I actually took 20 packs, (an entire carton) to the show that night. I thought about distributing them to some of the fans to throw up on the stage at the end of the show. But, regrettably, I wussed out. Plus I didn’t want to give up my spot right next to Greyson’s merch table where he would be showing up at the end of the show.

There may be other fans out there to whom he revealed his secret. This is my story.

Back in the old days, just after the release of ‘AFTERLIFE’, when Greyson would actually reply to my DM’s every now and then, I sent him this random question:

My curiosity was triggered by some of Greyson’s earlier posts on his social media referencing cigarettes or smoking (which was of grave concern to some of his fans). And also by the line in ‘AFTERLIFE’: “…moving by cigarette light…”

As luck would have it, he replied almost immediately:

I’m sure Greyson must have expected and hoped, that, like any good fangirl worth her salt, I would blab this revelation all over Twitter. Instead, I chose to harbor his deep, dark secret. I refused to be a part of his little ploy by doing his dirty work for him…like I’m his fucking “toadie.” (Google it πŸ˜‰) I figured, in time, he would find his balls and reveal his filthy habit on his own. In true Greyson form, he eventually (and ever so gradually) let us in on his sordid secret lifestyle …in dribs and drabs.
Here’s Greyson “acting” πŸ˜€

My guess is that he started smoking in that summer of 2013 that he spent with his hillbilly cousins in Tennessee !!! (No offense)πŸ˜‚ But that’s just speculation on my part. In any case, I hope he’ll eventually see the error of his ways and break himself of this most unattractive and unhealthy habit. That will be rather difficult for him when the consensus among most fangirls is “GREYSON YOU SHOULD STOP SMOKING!!! But it sure makes you look HOT!!!”

I’m currently working on getting him to reveal if he’s dating someone. This might explain his excruciating relative absence from his Social Media.

Geeks 😎

“We’ll just have to see”

Your long-awaited documentary is beautiful.Β Beautifully shot, beautifully written, beautifully produced, and beautifully and honestly told by you. Congratulations on a job well done!

HOWEVER I must protest!!! (As usual)

And I quote (you):

“If people don’t like this shit, maybe I SHOULD go get a job in construction”

And yes, I know you’re speaking metaphorically. But what? …Politics?Β Journalism? Education? Modelling, even? Yes, you’d be well suited to any of those professions. But ask yourself, would you be AS passionate with any one of those as you are with music? Please tell me I haven’t hung around here for nearly seven years only to watch you throw in the towel!!!

You’d be committing a GRAVE SIN depriving the world of your talent!!!

Cuz at the ripe old age of 19 you don’t have a big hit record in the USA yet???

Cuz one fucking prick said “you’re good but you’re not great”???

Cuz you had to cancel one fucking show???

Maybe even cuz you personally invested a small fortune this past year? (Just speculating there)

Certainly the last six-plus years have been an emotional roller coaster for you and I suspect this past year has been no different. As you take your retreat back home, in the good hands of your family and friends, the best wisdom I can offer is that instant fame is NOT the only path to “success” in music. In fact it is a rarity for those who have been blessed with longevity in the industry.Β I REFUSE to believe that your audience, a larger, more diverse audience, isn’t out there. FIND THEM!!!

But, in the end, you have to write your own story. You have to find your own success, your own happiness, your own Music. And, above all,Β be at peace with it.img_20161204_123341

One Year After AFTERLIFE Oct./29/2015

will always be special to me. It marked a new “turn” on Greyson’s journey;
New Management
New plan
New music

It was/is a clear indication of his commitment to continue that journey. I’m not ashamed to say that the Henson Studio video performance of ‘Afterlife’ literally brought tears to my eyes. It was a stunning display of his evolution as an artist.

According to Alex, Greyson is “focusing and writing”. Currently Greyson is, even more than usual, keeping a low-profile on his social media. Now back in Oklahoma, he stated, in his recent question and answer, “I think I’m the happiest I’ve ever been”. Perhaps it’s because an emotionally draining year of struggles and “twists and turns”, culminating in the release and promotion of ‘Somewhere Over My Head’, is finally over.

His most recent tweets and snaps suggest that more new music is on the horizon. The accoustic version of ‘Anything’ appears to be in production. We’re all anxiously awaiting studio cuts ofΒ ‘Seasons’ . ‘Stand’ . ‘London’

Let’s all give him some space πŸ˜‰

The Journey Continues.

If anyone’s interested in a more in-depth and critical assessment of this past year for Greyson, poke around on this blog site. It won’t be hard to find.

And you might find some other revealing things πŸ™‚
